It's official! We saw CalTrans wiring the metal sign this morning to a lightpost near the Highway 1 Exit from Highway 101 in Mill Valley. The Muir Woods Parking Shuttle service for this year starts Saturday, May 1.
Please do keep some important facts in mind:
The shuttle only runs on weekends and holidays. During the summer the crowds mid-week can still get large as well.
The shuttle takes cash and doesn't give change. The bus ride costs $3 for adults, $1 for kids, seniors and the disabled, and the entrance to the park is a separate ticket and a separate price.
The parking lot fills up early in the morning at Muir Woods. If you don't take the shuttle and don't want a long walk, start your day in Muir Woods. You'll enjoy the crisp morning air, and you'll miss the crowds and parking hassles.
If you take the shuttle, make sure you read about how the parking lots near Highway 101 work on our website here. The bus stops at one parking lot on the way up the hill and a separate lot two blocks away on the way back. To avoid waiting for a bus that never comes you have to know the locations, and we have maps to help.
Summer is coming soon!
